Neon Token
Time Duration: 20/10/2023 - 23/10/2023
This simple model will be used by as a throwing item for the player as a small distraction to get the guards away from their current position.
Research
These are some images of Japanese token/coin models from different artists, even if none of them have a neon glow.

Specifications
These are the measurements that I’ll be using for making the token model.
-
Diameter: 26.5 mm
-
Thickness: 2 mm
Sketches
These are a few of the sketches of the tokens based only on what should be used in the centre, as well as two different Japanese Kanji symbols.

Modelling Process

2) Next, I used the Booleans tool to create the outline centre and a centre hole for the token model.
1) I started by creating an outline with the multi-cut tool extruding the centre faces back into the model.

3) Finally, before editing the UV Map, I used the multi-cut tool to connect and create some faces.
Creating Material Maps
Using Photoshop, I only used the text tool for the different Japanese Kanji symbol meaning “steal” on both sides of the token, and a shape tool to create the colour layouts based on the tokens shape. I then merged the specific layers for the separate maps, and only duplicated the albedo map for the emission map.

Reflection on Asset Process
The improvements I would have done with making the token:
-
Changing the layout of the UV map.
-
Created a normal map for the model.
