Key Card/Access Card
Time Duration: 23/11/2023 - 28/11/2023
This process will show how I created a key card that will be used to help the player to access certain areas within the levels of the game.
Research
These are different images of key card/access card models to give me an overview on how their designed.

Specifications
These only show the sizes of the key card that I require to use when modelling.
-
Height: 59 mm
-
Width: 86 mm
-
Thickness: 0.76 mm
Sketches
These sketches only shows how I want to layout the design of the access cards to look like.

Modelling Process
Creating the model wasn’t too much trouble once I had the measurements, all I need to do was move the lines of the subdivisions near the comers of the primitive cube model, and add a smooth to the face edges of the model. Next, I repositioned the pivot points on edges of the model with scale tool, deleted some of the edge’s extra lines and pivot points, and reconnected the remanding edge pivot points with the target weld tool.

Creating Material Maps
Using Adobe Photoshop, I used the shape tool to create outline for the cards design to create for the albedo map, but before merging the layers I had to duplicate the design to create two different maps; the emission map’s design was simple just to use a brighter colour for the outline; whereas the normal map was only to expand some of the shapes and change the colour and merging the layers, before turning it to a normal map.

Reflection on Asset Process
The improvements I would have done with making the access card:
-
Making the shape of the model look more like the sketch.
-
Creating different material maps for different access cards to be used in the project.
