Money Stack

Time Duration: 12/10/2023 - 20/10/2023

This shows the process of how I created another prop will be duplicated for the player to steal, and like the Gold Bar process this will show no sketches.

Research

I was able to find some different models and materials of different stacks of cash, I only used them in dollar based on the game being set in the USA.

Specifications

I chose to find out the details of a 100 US Dollar bill as well as the measurements based on the stack.

  • Dollar Size (Width × Height): 156 mm × 67 mm

  • Dollar Thickness: 0.11 mm

  • Stack Amount: $10000

  • Dollar Stack Size: 12.70 mm

  • Main Colour: Green, #fefeea (254,254,234)

  • Description on the Obverse: Benjamin Franklin

  • Description on the Reverse: Independence Hall

Modelling Process

Creating the model was just simple due to the measurements I’ve collected on the size of the stack. It did take some time to unfold the UV map something I can easily work with.

Creating Material Maps

I only had to use the front and back of a 100-dollar bill, I took adding some noise and a motion blur to create the height map and effect for the stack. I was able to use a duplicated layer of the height map to convert into a normal map before exporting the layers.

Final Model

This is finished version of the asset that has been add to my ArtStation account, but it doesn't have the height map added.

Reflection on Asset Process

The improvements I would have done with making the money stack:

  • Created a different shape of the model instead of making a cuboid.

  • Making multiple albedo maps for different dollar bill stacks than just $10000.

  • Made the $100 dollar bill my own design.
